2. Multiple Manual Feed Block
The multiple manual feed block feeds printing paper from the multiple
manual feed tray into the machine.
On the multiple manual feed paper tray, the middle
plate is always pressing printing paper against the multiple manual feed roller.
At paper feed, the multiple manual feed roller rotates to feed the printing
paper and the separation pad sends only one sheet to the resist
roller.
The configuration of
this block is explained with controls and functions
below.

The control and function of each section are
explained below.
a. Paper size
detection
This machine can detect the size
of printing paper loaded on the multiple manual feed tray.
For the paper size detection, the DC controller
monitors output from the variable resistor (multiple manual feed tray paper
detection sensor SVR1).
SVR1 is interlocked with the side guide and
indicates the paper size when the side guide is aligned with paper loaded on the
multiple manual feed. From the paper width value output by SVR1, the DC
controller detects the size of paper loaded on the multiple manual feed
tray.

b. Paper pressing
mechanism
This mechanism presses the multiple manual feed
roller against printing paper on the multiple manual feed
tray.
For high-speed printing, the multiple manual feed
system of this machine always keeps pressing the middle plate against the
multiple manual feed roller, instead of lifting and lowering the middle plate
for each sheet.
When printing paper is loaded and the upper guide is
closed, the middle plate goes up and presses the printing paper against the
multiple manual feed roller. The pressure on the printing paper is
maintained.
The upper guide has a stopper plate to disable the
user to load paper without opening the upper guide.

Upper guide open
Paper can be inserted between the
multiple manual feed roller and the middle plate.
[3] Upper guide closed again
When printing paper is loaded and the upper guide is closed, the
middle plate goes up and presses the printing paper against the multiple manual
feed roller.
