CIS Moving Control

To move the CIS to read original data on the copyboard glass

1. CIS Moving Control

a. Overview

This control is to move the CIS as much as a original size to read a original on the copyboard glass.  The reader controller PCB controls the reader motor (M501) to move the CIS.
When the reader controller turns ON the reader motor, a drive of the reader motor is transmitted to the CIS via the carriage drive belt, making the CIS moved forward/backward.
The CIS position is detected by the CIS home position sensor (PS503), and the reader controller moves the CIS based on the home position.
Schematic diagram of the CIS moving control is shown below.

[1] Reader motor (M501) drive signal

　　It controls motor rotation, stop, rotation direction, and speed.

[2] Contact Image Sensor (CIS) HP Sensor (PS503) Detection Signal

It detects that the contact image sensor (CIS) is in the home position.

[3] Copyboard Cover Sensor (Front: PS502/Rear: PS501)

　　It detects open/close of the copyboard cover.

b. Reader Motor Control

1) Overview

The reader motor (M501) controls rotation, stop, rotation direction, and speed of the reader motor by the control signal from the CPU in the DC controller to the motor driver.

2) Reader Motor Speed Control

The rotation speed of the reader motor during image reading differs between forward rotation and backward rotation.

State Detail Speed Forward The speed is controlled in 4 blocks (acceleration, run-up, reading, deceleration) to speed up  reading. 236mm/sec Backward The reader motor rotates at a uniform speed because it just goes back to the start position. 147mm/sec

c. CIS Home Position Detection

1) Overview

The machine detects the CIS position to move it properly.
The reader controller monitors the CIS home position sensor (PS503; photo sensor) to detect the position.
The sensor light shield plate is attached to the CIS carriage. When the sensor light shield plate blocks the light of PS503 while the CIS is moved, the reader controller judges that the CIS is in the home position.
The reader controller moves the CIS based on the home position.
The home position is detected in the following cases.

-When the power is turned ON.

-When image reading is started. (However, the home position is not detected if it has been less than 1 min. since the last detection.)
