Overview of Original
Exposure System
○Purpose: To learn about parts consisting of the original exposure
system and their specs.
1. Overview
The original exposure system is a original
reading area when a copy is made.
Original reading is performed by the reader
unit [1]. The reader unit has the contact image sensor (CIS) [3], and the CIS
shifts from side to side to read a original [4] on the copyboard glass [2] as
image data. The image data read by the CIS is corrected by the reader
controller, and is sent to the image-processing unit (main
controller).
The auto document feeding function (ADF
function) becomes available when the optional feeder unit is attached to the
machine.
Original reading has the following 2
modes.
∙ BOOK
mode: Reading a original on the copyboard
glass
∙
ADF mode: Feeding originals from the ADF to read (When the feeder unit is
attached.)

Reader
Unit
○Purpose: To learn about controls executed by the reader
unit.
1.Overview
The reader unit is controlled by the reader
controller PCB. When the reader controller receives a original reading command
from the main controller, it controls the contact image sensor (CIS) to execute
scanning. At this time, the CIS shifts from side to side using the reader motor
drive to scan original data for 1 page.
Original size on the copyboard glass is
detected by the original sensors 1 to 5.
The reader unit consists of the following
parts.
[1] Copyboard Cover Open/Close Sensor 1 (PS501)
[2] Reader
Controller PCB
[3] Original Sensor 3 (PS506)
[4] Original Sensor 4 (PS507)
