Fault Detection
○Purpose: Here, you will learn about faults that are associated
with the fixing system.
1. Details of Errors Associated
with the Fixing System
If a fault occurs in the fixing assembly, the
machine indicates an appropriate error code and disables printing operation. In
most cases, you will have to replace the fixing film or the fixing assembly to
reset the machine.

During start-up control, any of the following
conditions is detected continuously for 200 msec or more:
1)the reading of the main thermistor is less than 30 deg C 1 sec after
the start of power supply.
2)the reading of the main thermistor is less than 70 deg C 2 sec after
the start of power supply.

Overheating is detected in the main
thermistor.
|
The reading of the main thermistor is 235 deg
C continuously for 200 msec.

Overheating is detected by the hardware
circuit.

The hardware circuit detects overheating in
the main thermistor or the sub thermistor.

Overheating is detected in the sub
thermistor.
|
The reading of the sub thermistor is 295 deg
C continuously for 200 msec or more.

The fixing temperature fails to reach a
specific value within a specific period of time (temperature rise
fault).
|
At time of startup control, any of the
following conditions is detected for 200 msec continuously:
1)the reading of the main thermistor detects 100 deg C and then is less
than 200 msec 1 sec thereafter.
2)the reading of the main thermistor is 140 deg C and then less than
150 deg C 1 sec thereafter.
3)the reading of the main thermistor is 160 deg C and then is less than
165 deg C 1 sec thereafter

The fixing temperature has dropped abnormally
(low error temperature).

At time of normal temperature control, the
reading of the main thermistor is less than 140 deg C continuously for 200
msec.

The rotation of the fixing film is not
detected. |
While the fixing motor is being driven and
the reading of the main thermistor is in excess of 100 deg C, the marker signal
is not detected or 6 sec.

Caution
You will not be able to reset an error code
by merely turning off and then on the machine. Be sure to use service mode. (For
instructions, see the descriptions of the tasks of the service
person.)
