Concept
Purpose: This Subject aims to provide learners with
the knowledge of the background and purposes of the development of the
Copier.
“Establish a differentiated
position in the copier industry to boost our share in the monochrome copier
market.”
In recent years, we have been facing increasingly
fierce competition especially with Ricoh and Xerox in the monochrome copier
market. In particular, since the middle-speed monochrome copier market accounts for
half the entire monochrome copier market, it is critical for us to gain
predominance over competitors in the middle-speed copier market in expanding our
market share.
Cannon released iR2200 Series (iR2200, iR2800 and iR3300), monochrome
paper copier models, in 2001 to increase its share in the monochrome
middle-speed copier market. Now, Cannon intends to further boost its monochrome
middle-speed copier market share by launching new copy machines that have been
created through improving iR2200, iR2800 and iR3300 models with higher
performance and competitive advantages. It also plans to introduce iR models
into the 40-sheet copier market for the first time in order to gain more market
share in that market.
Product
Features
1. Space-saving machine
Since Finisher S-1, an option, can be connected onto
a delivery tray, it is possible to use the finisher without expanding the
footprint of the main body.
2. Accelarated FCOT
Portrait-oriented delivery has enabled the
acceleration of First Copy Out Time (FCOT).
- 5.8 seconds(iR2200/3300) 3.9 seconds (iR3570/4570)
3. Introduction of a high-speed
on-demand fixing device
Adopting an on-demand fixing device has enabled
energy conservation as well as reduction of start-up time. Applying the on-demand fixing device to the
40-sheet copier has achieved energy saving and shortened start-up time also in
the high-speed printer.
4. Energy conservation
Adopting the Sleep function in the Copier has
enabled low-power-consumption during standby.
The Copier is capable of keeping power consumption
at 1W or less by minimizing power supplied during Sleep even when each optional
device (DADF or FAX) is installed.
5. Various feeding/delivery
accessories
The Copier is capable of paper feeding in quantity
by adding the feeding option.
The delivery option will also enable the expansion
of a copy tray as well as diversified deliveries.
∙ Paper stock capability: 1,150 sheets to a maximum of 4,750 sheets
(80g/m2)
∙ Copy tray: one tray to up to three
∙ Stapler function
∙ Punching function
∙ Book making function
6. Improvement of usability
Introduction of a cartridge-type toner bottle has
enabled a user to supply a toner without spotting his/her
hands.
7. Identical engine available for ,multiple
print-speed segments
Canon has succeeded in making an identical engine
support four print-speed segments of the Copier: 22ppm, 28ppm, 35ppm and
45ppm.
The differences of print speed among these segments
have been achieved through changing process speeds and paper
intervals.
